How To Learn ABC Chemistry

How To Learn ABC ChemistryYou have probably heard of ABC Chemistry before. The name is more than likely familiar to you, and that is because it is a formula used to demonstrate the power of chemistry in the natural world. Chemical compounds, organic compounds, are those that can be molded into other objects or formed into another compound. In this case, it teaches us about how some materials, such as metals, react with one another, forming bonds with other elements that form bonds with these metals, and so on.ABC Chemistry is not a form of chemistry, you should start from scratch if you have no idea what ABC is. It is actually a proven method that has been around for hundreds of years and can be quite useful. It is only necessary that you know some of the basics of chemistry to understand this course, and your basic knowledge will have you on your way to becoming a successful chemist.Let's assume that you have taken a course in chemistry, and you have read all the book, and you have even gone to a formal laboratory with your professors. Now, that is not a sufficient excuse for skipping ABC Chemistry. This is the process by which you will be able to learn the basics of organic chemistry, how some elements that occur naturally react with one another, and how this can be used to create new materials that can be useful. There are a few basics of organic chemistry that you must learn. First off, if you are just learning about chemicals, you need to know that they exist in a three-dimensional world. They exist as a solid, liquid, and gas, in that order. You need to be aware of this, and know that you need to know about each one to properly do your work.Secondly, you need to understand the difference between a solid and a liquid, and between a gas and a liquid. You must be able to differentiate the two, and be able to treat each correctly in order to do your job. This is an essential part of the ABC Chemistry course, and without this skill, you are not ready to move fo rward. Finally, you must know how chemical compounds can form similar concepts. This can be a complicated concept, but ABC Chemistry covers it. Knowing how various compounds form bonds and how they do so can give you the insight you need to have a chance at success in your career. Just remember that you need to be able to do this.If you can learn these two basic concepts in an ABC Chemistry course, you will be well on your way to making an impression on your friends. It will allow you to create chemical compounds in the lab, and you will be able to give them a test to determine their success. This will make them admire you, and your ability to be successful. There are many other aspects of ABC Chemistry that you will need to learn. There are reactions, and compounds, and getting to grips with the concept of reactivity is not too difficult. You will need to know about the bonds that occur, and the properties of these bonds. You will need to know how to create products that are useful i n your field, and to be able to do that you need to know how to create certain bonds in the right conditions.

The Benefits of Student-Led Learning in International Schools

The Benefits of Student-Led Learning in International Schools By Kathy DeadyFinally, international educational bodies are recognizing that teaching methods need to evolve drastically in response to changing demands and the constant progression of information technology. Recent education reforms in Europe and the Middle East have acknowledged the need for progressive innovation in this area, with a particular focus on the potential for student-lead learning to become a more significant component of the schooling experience. Student-lead learning is exactly as it sounds. Although teachers remain in the classroom to provide guidance on subject areas and to oversee quality, the control of the learning experience is handed over to the students. They are encouraged to teach themselves and their peers by undertaking their own study and research, then sharing their findings with others.  A recent pilot study at a Avans University in the Netherlands, showed that handing the lead to students raises grades, increases attendance and enhances overall stude nt engagement. The experiment began with the finance department, whose lecturers had decided radical action was needed to improve a typical attendance rate of just 50% in each class, and the poor exam performance as a result.Students were divided into groups to present different topics and were given free reign to structure their classes as they wished. It was noted that some classes took a creative approach, using interesting ways of presenting information, some groups held practical sessions, for example, one based their session around an entertaining, popular Dutch game show format. The variety of lesson structure attracted more and more participants every week, with a renewed eagerness amongst the students to get involved during each session. The benefits of this model of learning in the international classroom may be especially of value. The diverse range of student backgrounds in attendance means the contribution potential is huge. Firstly, when students take the lead, they’r e likely to concentrate on ideas around a given concept that interest them, both allowing them to engage with the topic from a more unique perspective than the typical curriculum focus, and allows for greater depth of understanding. Students tend to have a more natural connection with their classmates than a teacher, as they communicate with them in a way that is relevant, on a level that their generation and ability level will understand, by using appropriate language and actions.Subsequently, when students find learning more accessible, it encourages them to become more active learners and opens their minds to new ways of thinking. Sparks for discussion and debate, critical for enriching the learning experience. Presenting to a group of people builds personal confidence and develops essential oral communication skills which are ever more important in school and the workplace. Collaboration with classmates and taking the lead builds stronger relationships and respect between peers, which in turn improves student participation and boosts morale. It is surprising how well students perform and gain interest, given a little responsibility. Giving students to do things how they like has such a positive impact on their education.Even more good news is that incorporating a student-led approach in the classroom is as simple as it is effective. Students need to be set clear expectations from the start, but otherwise encouraged to use creativity and initiative in their presentations. Ask them to set goals for their project, consider ways they can involve their audience and evaluate their success afterwards. In the years to come, and with developing technology, we can no doubt expect to see students having much more autonomy over their day-to-day learning experience. For more information, ideas and resources on student-led learning, check out:Teach Hub: Student-Led Instruction StrategiesASCD: Student Directed Learning

A Student Perspective on The University of Texas at Austin

A Student Perspective on The University of Texas at Austin Michael earned his bachelors degree in biochemistry from The University of Texas at Austin in 2016. He specializes in chemistry tutoring, math tutoring, science tutoring, and more. Continue reading for his review of The University of Texas at Austin: Describe the campus setting and transportation options. Michael: UT Austin is located right next to downtown Austin, Texas. The city is decently large and can be tough to navigate, but it is very safe and there are several buses the city and the university offer. Students can use either a bus to go directly to campus, or to West Campus and North Campus where the majority of returning students choose to live. A lot of students use bikes to get around campus, but I recommend a car if one wants to see the rest of Austin. How available are the professors, academic advisers, and teaching assistants? Michael: I would say TAs are your best bet for getting one-on-one help at UT Austin. TAs Ive had are extremely patient with their students and encourage open discussion. Most of the professors that teach introductory classes at UT are tenured, meaning their main priorities include research and teaching their designated courses. The one-hour a week they hold office hours are often flooded with 30 plus students asking the same questions over and over again. Academic advisers are invaluable when registering for classes each semester, but are also responsible for hundreds of students. This is not their fault, its just one of the few costs of attending a huge university. How would you describe the dorm liferooms, dining options, location, socialization opportunities with other students? Michael: Dorm life is perfect for your first year of college. Rooms can be subpar, but you are within minutes walking distance of your classes. Hanging out with people on my floor really helped me to release stress about upcoming exams. We went bowling in the Union underground, got meals together, and of course had our 2 am conversations about random stuff. The food could be better, but no one has time to make their own meals while trying to juggle school and living your own for the first time in your life. Which majors/programs are best represented and supported? Michael: There is not really one major or program that continuously makes headlines for UT, but I would have to say that engineering and the sciences receive the most attention. I was a biochemistry major because I am one of those nerds that loves to eat, breathe, and live chemistry. The chemistry of the body systems has continued to fascinate me with every course I have taken. Im very excited about the biochemistry that I will hopefully learn in medicine one day. How easy or difficult was it for you to meet people and make friends as a freshman? Does Greek life play a significant role in the campus social life? Michael: Meeting new people as a freshman can be intimidating, but joining an organization or club can make your first year college one to remember. I joined a fraternity and a pre-health organization my first year and have two sets of friend groups that have helped me to explore the university. About 1 in 5 students participate in Greek life, but it is by no means the only way to make friends. A good place to start is to make friends in your classes and go from there. How helpful is the Career Centerand other student support services? Michael: The Career Center is very helpful during your third and fourth years of college. Ive used the Undergraduate Writing Center all six semesters of my college experience. Career fairs, mock interviews, and essay reviews are just a few of the services the Career Center offers at UT Austin. My only advice is to book appointments well in advance. How are the various study areas such aslibraries, the student union, and dorm lounges? Are they over-crowded, easily available, spacious? Michael: Except for finals, the libraries, student unions, and academic centers are open until 10 or 11 pm at night and are very spacious. You can always find a place to study on campus, whether by yourself or in study groups. Every building on campus has free Wifi and multiple plugs, which is crucial because your laptop is your most precious resource as a college student. Describe the surrounding town. Michael: Austin is a college town for a reason. It hosts several music festivals including Austin City Limits and South by Southwest. It has football games in the fall and baseball games in the spring. It has some of the best food in the south, including arguably the best barbecue in the country. It has ideal weather year-round. Downtown streets are crowded with students Thursday through Saturday nights. How big or small is the student body? Were you generally pleased or displeased with the typical class sizes? Michael: UT Austins undergraduate student body amasses to a total of 50,000 people. Thats a lot, but over time you get used to it. Class size can be as big as 500 people freshmen year, but slim down to about 50-100 students by your third and fourth years at the university. Describe one memorable experience with a professor and/or class. Perhaps one you loved the most or one youregretthe most. Michael: One semester, I took a class called Chemical and Synthetic Biology. My professor was a genius and eccentric, to say the least. After the first lecture, half of the class dropped because they read and trashed the syllabus after they saw there were eight exams for his course. I said, play ball! I stuck it out and it turned out to be an awesome class. I even failed three exams and pulled out an A in the course. The take-home message is this: you have to work hard for your grades in college. Taking this class exemplifies that intelligence coupled with ambition breeds success. Yet, intelligence without ambition wont get you that far. Check out Michaels tutoring profile. How to Sing While Breaking a Sweat Tips for Triple Threats

How to Sing While Breaking a Sweat Tips for Triple Threats Suzy S. John Travolta, Hugh Jackman,  and Catherine Zeta-Jones are just a few of the Hollywood celebrities known for being triple threatsskilled in singing, dancing, and acting. Here, Corona, CA teacher  Milton J.  shares his tips for reaching their superstar status So youve decided to take vocal lessons to learn how to sing better, but the buck doesnt just stop there for your own ambitions. You have your eyes set on the stage and the screen, and you won’t stop until youre there. You may be doe-eyed and eager to learn, but you’re sure of where you want to end up. Your guide is nighjust remember The Three P’s: Preparation, Practice, and Performance. Preparation That first wonderful step is taking vocal lessons. (And if you haven’t started those yet, what are you waiting for?! Book lessons with me, or find a teacher near you!) Finding a vocal teacher is very important in order for you to understand how to use your entire vocal cavitynot just how to sing. Taking vocal lessons will indeed improve your speaking and recitation voices as well. Next, taking acting classes and workshops will allow you to put those new speaking and singing tools youve acquired into action, all the while improving your cue, marking, beat, and improvisation skills. From there, taking dance classes will start the third leg of your Triple-Threat race. Taking dance lessons will help you continue improving the skills youve picked up in your acting classes while adding in rhythm, technique, ensemble and solo routine, and vocal/dance incorporation. Practice Youve heard the old adage time and time againPractice Makes Perfect. It’s been around so long because it’s true; the best way to improve yourself after youve acquired the tools is to cultivate them into skills. After your vocal lessons, it’s important to do your daily vocal warm-ups and exercises to continue building strength in the muscles of your vocal cavity. After your acting classes and workshops, continue to run lines, blocking, and scene rehearsing. Visualization with a virtual stage at home can help to put all phases of your scene together. And after your dance lessons, continue doing your daily stretches and routine practicing in order to polish them up for the next class and, ideally, the eventual performance. P-R-A-C-T-I-C-E! Performance After the preparation, and after all of the practicing, the payoff draws nearthe Performance. With your vocal lessons, seek out vocal opportunities either solicited from your vocal teacher or elsewhere. Community choral groups are a wonderful place to learn how to sing with others and cultivate your musical score reading skills. As a solo singer, your local coffee shop, bar, or music store may lead open mic nights for you to pop into and sing a few selections youve been working on for an audience. For acting, look into your local community theater companies for audition opportunities. Check the audition dates (usually on their website or the theater box office) and ask your acting instructor for input on audition pieces if you haven’t already. Lastly, for dancing, dance showcases are the perfect opportunity to strut your stuff. If you’re attending classes at a dance studio, chances are theyll have a showcase coming up. If not, actively seek out showcases you can audition fortry your citys Park and Recreation department, or other local dance studios. These organizations are always looking for new undiscovered talent or new dancers to join their ranks. Preparation is the first step, Practice makes perfect, and the Performance is the goal. Now that you’re set with The Three P’s, you’re on your way to becoming the Triple Threat you know you can be! Break a leg!
